Why Join the Union?

Why Join the Union?

With the Transport Workers’ Union of New South Wales, you will never walk alone.

A union is only as strong as its members, and we are proud to be Australia’s strongest union. Since 1888, we have been winning a better deal for our members across the transport industry, and with you walking alongside us, we can achieve even more as we move into the future.

How Do I Join?

Call our Members’ Service Centre on 1800 729 909 or join online.

Not from NSW or the ACT? Find your state branch here.

Why Should I Join?

Your TWU membership is your ticket to secure jobs, good pay, safety on the job and respect from the bosses.

By joining TWU NSW, you have the security of knowing your workmates have your back – and you are sending the message that you care about secure fair wages and conditions, job security, respect and safety at work.

Becoming a member gives you a voice in the issues that matter – in your yard, in the community, and in the halls of power. Employers and governments have never simply handed out improved working conditions or entitlements. Benefits like overtime, sick leave, holidays, pensions, rostered days off, redundancy agreements, and the weekend – these were all won by union members working together.

As TWU member you have the access to in-house safety training, which helps build safer and stronger workplaces. The TWU provides its members with expert industrial advice, assistance and professional representation. Our legal team specialises in workplace issues within the transport industry. Whether its unfair dismissals, underpayment claims, or negotiating a fair workplace agreement, we’ll have your back.
